A woman in her ’30’s hiking above Eaton Canyon near the lower waterfall area was bitten by a dog Monday, prompting a 1:15 p.m. response by the Pasadena Fire Department’s Urban Search and Rescue and the Pasadena Humane Society.

The 10-person “USAR” team reportedly staged at an area in the 1700 block of north Altadena Drive.

“We were able to locate her and assist her out,”  said Pasadena Fire Dept. spokesperson Lisa Derderian. “She was with a group of friends and the medium size German Shepard mix bit her in the lower leg. She did not know the dog, who was with the owner.”

The Pasadena Humane Society examined the dog and met with its owner outside the search area.

Derderian said the victim was treated on scene for a minor bite.
