The attack reportedly occurred after a man became enraged when a drink was spilled on him.
Despite immediate apologies, he allegedly accused the group of dousing him intentionally and stormed off, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Witnesses said the man returned about 30 minutes later, screaming threats before physically assaulting the woman victim and others nearby.
Video footage shared by the Festive Owl platform shows the man throwing punches and knocking the woman to the ground as bystanders attempted to intervene.
“This man punched me in the face, knocking me out and causing significant bleeding, while he continued attacking our group,” said the victim, an Arizona woman, in a statement shared via Festive Owl and reported by the Times.
“I tried to calm the situation and apologized again — and the next thing I remember I woke up in a medical tent an hour later and missed the entire show.”
A police report was taken, according to a city spokesperson. ABC7 reported the Pasadena Police Dept. is pursuing multiple leads to identify the suspect.
The concert was part of Rüfüs Du Sol’s Inhale / Exhale World Tour.
The band issued a statement Monday night via Instagram, reported by ABC7:
“Delivering moments for our fans to gather and celebrate safely is what we live for. We have been heartbroken to hear of the act of violence that took place during the opening act on Saturday. This type of behavior is completely unacceptable anywhere and the fact that this happened at one of our shows was devastating to learn about. Local law enforcement are actively investigating the situation. Anyone with information to assist the investigation should please contact Pasadena Police Department.”
