Woman Robbed By Strangers Offering A Ride Home

A 69-year old Pasadena woman was robbed yesterday afternoon by a couple who offered her a ride home from a Vons grocery, police said.

After withdrawing money from an atm at Vons at Fair Oaks Ave and Orange Grove Blvd at 3:30 p.m. on June 3, the victim was followed by a Hispanic man and Hispanic woman in their 30s, police said. The suspects approached the woman after she left the store and offered her a ride home, according to police officials.

The woman accepted the ride from the suspects to the 1700 block of El Sereno Ave. When they arrived, the suspects grabbed her purse, held it ransom and ordered the woman to go into her house and retrieve her jewelry, polcie said. The woman went inside and returned with her jewelry, and the couple then fled with her purse, jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Police described the suspects, who were driving a light blue Honda pilot, as a 5’8″ tall Hispanic man with a slim build and acne and scarring on his face, and a short female with green eyes and black hair.
