Police said a 15-year-old Pasadena teenager suspected of burglary put up quite a fight Wednesday afternoon when an officer tried to detain to him.

The teen was eventually arrested with the help of additional officers, but suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene by Fire Dept. Paramedics, according to Lt. Anthony Burgess.

Burgess said the suspect — who was not identified because he is a minor — allegedly attempted a “hot prowl” burglary of a residence in the 400 block of North Hill Avenue when two minors were inside the home, a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy.

A responding officer located the suspect about 4:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of East Maple Street.

“There was a fight between this suspect and the officer,” Burgess said.

Officers did not realize the suspect was a juvenile until they had him at the police station and could identify him, Burgess said.

The suspect was booked for burglary, resisting arrest, and identity theft.

Burgess said the teen told police he was a transient and that he suffers from mental illness.
