As the sportier side of the A4, the 2022 Audi S4 brings the speed without all the fanfare. If you like your speed with a loud roar, the S4 is not your car. But if you appreciate the finer things, you’ll love the understated purr of the engine as it flies down the highway.
Not to be outdone the interior is beautifully appointed with diamond stitched sports seats with a massage feature. Also new for 2022 is that the carbon-fiber interior trim is standard on all models.
Available in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige, this review will focus on the top-of-the-line Prestige trim.
Unique to the Prestige trim are a navigation system, upgraded interior ambient lighting, automated parking system, traffic sign recognition, upgraded LED headlights, head-up display, heated rear seats, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system.
Options for the S4 which were included on my model were the S Sport package with adaptive suspension, red brake calipers, and upgraded rear differential. My model also had soft Napa leather seats, dynamic steering and some cosmetic black trims and fancy 19” spoke-star design wheels.
A 3.0-liter V6 engine with a turbo powers the S4 pulling 349 horses and 369 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is standard. Expect to get 21/city, 30/highway and 24/combined MPG.
Equipped with a pleasing and comfortable interior, the S4 is straight-forward to use with controls that are well identified and a touchscreen that is clear and fairly easy to use. Drivers will have no problem finding a comfortable position in the supportive drivers-seat. Back seat passengers will be left wanting just a bit more space.
Driving is where the S4 really shines with a press of the accelerator it blasts into motion making short work of merging and passing. Not only does the S4 make tracks it also makes winding roads fun with on-point handling. In spite of all this speed, the interior remains quiet and the ride relatively smooth.
Need a sedan, but want one with pizzazz? Give the 2022 Audi S4 a test drive.
