There’s nothing I like better than a convertible, except maybe a convertible with a V8 under the hood. The 2024 Lexus LC 500 convertible hits the spot with a V8 engine that produces 471 horses and a satisfying growl from the exhaust. It catapults the driver from 0 to 60 in what seems like one second (upon research it is more like five, but still). That kind of acceleration really gives me a rush and sends me into giggles of absolute joy. It doesn’t hurt that the car is gorgeous and the optional blue and white leather in the interior is yummy.
The 2024 Lexus LC features subtle yet impactful updates that enhance its overall appeal. The most significant change is the revamped infotainment system, which greatly improves the interior experience. The previous touchpad controller has been replaced with a more user-friendly 12.3-inch touchscreen display. This new interface aligns with other Lexus models in terms of functionality and design, offering improved ease of use and a bunch of modern features. The updated system includes over-the-air update capability, voice assistant functionality, and expanded connectivity options, all of which not only enhance day-to-day usability but also provide added convenience and safety features, such as improved emergency and roadside assistance capabilities.
The LC 500 is offered in coupe, convertible and hybrid in a single trim level which is fully kitted out with all the features a driver of a luxury car could want. It boasts 21-inch forged alloy wheels and LED headlights for enhanced visibility and style. The interior is adorned with leather upholstery and features power-adjustable, heated and ventilated front seats for optimal comfort. A 12.3-inch infotainment screen provides access to navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a 12-speaker audio system.
The LC 500 incorporates keyless entry and ignition for convenience, as well as magnesium paddle shifters and an adaptive suspension for improved driving dynamics. Safety and driver assistance features are comprehensive, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure mitigation, blind-spot warning, and forward collision mitigation.
The convertible model offers a power-operated soft top, wind deflector, and windscreen for open-air enjoyment. Both versions come equipped with a surround-view monitor and parking sensors to aid in maneuvering. The LC 500 also provides onboard Wi-Fi with 4G LTE connectivity, for on the go texting and whatnot.
On the inside, my model was equipped with the aforementioned “yummy” blue and white leather upholstery. It was gorgeous and supple, a real stand-out and comfortable too. The LC’s latest iteration brings a significant improvement in its user interface. The previous touchpad controller has been replaced with a sleek 12.3-inch touchscreen display. This new interface manages the majority of the vehicle’s functions and greatly enhances its overall usability.
Where the LC 500 convertible truly excels is in its on-road comfort. The suspension provides a refined and smooth ride, effectively absorbing road imperfections without feeling overly floaty. The cabin is notably quiet, allowing for easy conversation whether the top is up or down. As an added bonus, the V8 engine provides a rumbly backdrop.
Driving the LC 500 was a joy. The 10-speed automatic glided through the gears and made for a smooth ride. Even though it’s not the fastest off the bat it sure does feel like it. I found it totally exhilarating! The steering was grounded and responsive and it glided through the turns. I had a fun week with my 2024 Lexus LC 500 convertible.
