Sierra Madre Playhouse’s AKT Academy is excited to announce that Gayle Bluemel will be joining the youth music theater program as the music and vocal instructor starting September 11th during the Monday afternoon classes. Upon her retirement as Principal Emeritus from Sierra Madre School, the historic Beaux-Arts auditorium was renamed in her honor, with the following dedication: “Gayle Bluemel, The Singing Principal, recognized for her outstanding service to Pasadena Unified School District and the transformational role she has played in the lives of countless youth through the Performing Arts in Education.” Gayle founded the Pasadena Musical Theatre Program (GATE Summer Musical Workshops) and was Music Director on plays as diverse as Oklahoma and Company. She continues as a Singer, Songwriter, Composer, and Arranger to perform with local bands.
