“Since 1993, the Alhambra Lunar New Year Festival has ushered in prosperity and joy to the San Gabriel Valley,” according to the festival organizers, who highlighted the event’s longstanding presence in the community.
This year’s festival will feature a special Gallery Nucleus booth displaying Chinese Zodiac-inspired artwork by artists including Jenny Yu, Camille Andre, QinYi, and Airi Pan. Over 100 vendors and attractions will fill downtown Alhambra, including an Artist Alley, live stage performances, and a dedicated Kids Zone.
New attendees can participate in a Cultural Passport experience that guides visitors through how different regions celebrate the holiday. The program showcases time-honored traditions marked by the giving of lucky money, the prominence of the color red, sharing of traditional foods, and prayers for good fortune and prosperity.
Entertainment offerings include traditional dragon dances, live candy sculpting demonstrations, and various cultural performances on the Main Stage. Local restaurants from across the San Gabriel Valley will provide authentic cuisine, while interactive booths offer family-friendly activities throughout the day.
The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring attractions including a cherry blossom tree photo opportunity and various cultural demonstrations celebrating the Year of the Snake. For more information, visitors can visit alhambralunarnewyear.com.
