All Saints Church Celebrates Pride Month, Offers Diverse Programming

Published on Jun 22, 2024

All Saints Church in Pasadena is celebrating Pride Month with a full slate of programming on Sunday, June 23. The day begins with preaching by Jonathan Quinn at both 7:30 and 10 a.m. services, with music provided by the Canterbury Choir at the 10 a.m. service. American Sign Language interpretation is also available at 10 a.m.

At 9 a.m. in the Forum, Quinn and Thomas Diaz will lead a conversation titled “My Drag Mom Was a Dead Greek Monk,” exploring how progressive values and orthodox doctrines can coexist. Children’s Chapel, offered during the 10 a.m. service, provides a space for kindergarten through 5th graders to experience music, arts and crafts, meditations, storytelling, and spiritual practices in a community setting. Parents are always welcome.

Childcare for infants and toddlers is available from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Seminar Room and Small Lounge in Regas House, with registration and sign-in required. Space is limited, and families are asked to create or update their “My All Saints” account. Following the 10 a.m. service, coffee hour is hosted by greeter Jenn McGaw.

Adult education continues with Rick Thyne teaching “Jesus at Ground Level” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Forum, exploring the central figure of faith and addressing questions and doubts. The Journey of Faith sharing group meets from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Orthopaedic Center for Children Conference Room, offering a welcoming space for genuine conversations about faith journeys with no commitments or sign-ups required.

At 4 p.m., the “Reclaiming the Bible” study group convenes on Zoom, aiming to heal and move beyond misunderstandings and hurtful interpretations of scripture. Contact Charles Foster, Ph.D., at drcharlesfoster@icloud.com for Zoom access.

The day concludes with Jazz Vespers at 5 p.m. on the Chancel, featuring vocalist Maria Puga Lareo and a talented ensemble of musicians. There is no charge, and no reservations are required. More information can be found at www.mariapugalareo.com, jazz@allsaints-pas.org, or www.allsaints-pas.org
