This weekend, May 3-4, the Pasadena Convention Center’s Hall B will become a bustling hub of artistic expression as the Artazan Handcraft Market opens its doors. Located at 300 E Green St in Pasadena, this gathering of independent artisans promises to showcase their work across 25,000 square feet of exhibit space featuring 200 exhibits and special events.

Established by artisans inspired by the Arts & Crafts Movement of the late 19th century, Artazan celebrates handcraft in all its forms. The market brings together 200 exhibitors who are passionate about preserving traditional techniques while embracing innovative approaches to their craft.

“The Arts & Crafts movement of the 19th century championed the value of handcraft across all artistic disciplines, celebrating the beauty of materials shaped by human hands,” notes the official press release. “Artazan honors this legacy, bringing together a diverse group of painters, jewelry makers, designers, woodworkers, glassworkers, and ceramists—each dedicated to the originality and craftsmanship of their work.”

A Feast for the Senses

Visitors will be treated to a remarkable selection of handcrafted items created with “meticulous detail, natural materials, and brilliant colors,” described as “everyday items that are both beautiful and useful.” The exhibitors, carefully selected for their “highly-skilled handwork and use of natural materials,” include both traditional and contemporary artists who have perfected their craft.

What makes this gathering particularly special is that many exhibitors “have spent over forty years reviving lost styles, and using traditional tools and techniques to produce graceful handwork, and one-of-a-kind artisan design.”

Beyond shopping, the market offers immersive experiences that bring craftsmanship to life. “Throughout the weekend, artisans will demonstrate their creative processes, offering attendees glimpses into traditional techniques alongside hands-on workshops like plein air painting and jewelry making,” according to event organizers.

Music and culinary arts also feature prominently in the weekend’s offerings. Local classical guitarist Aaron Copenhaguen will perform live, creating an atmospheric backdrop for browsing the exhibits. Food enthusiasts can sample artisanal chocolates, wines, and specialty foods from craft purveyors, adding a delicious dimension to the creative showcase.

Perfect Timing, Perfect Place

“Pasadena, with its deep roots in the arts and craftsmanship, has long been a beacon of creativity. Its rich history in the arts makes it the perfect setting for Artazan, with an aim to help continue this tradition,” states the event press release.

The market runs from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. Admission is $8 for tickets purchased online in advance and $10 at the door, with tickets valid for both event days. This provides exceptional value for visitors wanting to fully experience the wealth of creative offerings.

For those driving to the event, parking at the Pasadena Convention Center costs $15, though alternative nearby parking options start at just $2. If you’re considering attending, note that the event’s refund policy allows for refunds up to 7 days before the event.

The current exhibitor list is being updated regularly as new participants are added to the event, so prospective visitors may want to check the official website for the latest additions.

Can’t make it this weekend? The good news is that this May event is just the first of two Artazan Handcraft Markets in Pasadena for 2025. A second market is scheduled for October 11-12 at the same venue, giving craft enthusiasts another opportunity to experience this celebration of artisanal excellence.

Whether you’re a serious collector or simply appreciate the beauty of handcrafted items, the Artazan Handcraft Market offers a refreshing alternative to mass-produced goods and a chance to connect directly with the skilled artisans who are keeping traditional craftsmanship alive.
