Artazan Market Brings Celebration of Handcrafts to Pasadena Convention Center

Independent artisans showcase traditional craftsmanship in two-day May festival

The Artazan Market will transform the Pasadena Convention Center into a vibrant hub of artistic expression on May 3-4, gathering independent artisans, designers and makers for a celebration of traditional handcraft and contemporary creativity.

The two-day event promises visitors an immersive experience with the handmade, offering opportunities to witness skilled demonstrations, participate in workshops and explore a diverse collection of original works.

Drawing inspiration from the 19th century Arts & Crafts movement that “championed the value of handcraft across all artistic disciplines, celebrating the beauty of materials shaped by human hands,” the market honors this artistic legacy, according to the official press release.

“Artazan honors this legacy, bringing together a diverse group of painters, jewelry makers, designers, woodworkers, glassworkers, and ceramists—each dedicated to the originality and craftsmanship of their work,” the announcement states.

Throughout the weekend, artisans will demonstrate their creative processes, offering attendees glimpses into traditional techniques alongside hands-on workshops like plein air painting. Visitors can also sample artisanal chocolates, wines and specialty foods produced by craft purveyors.

The atmosphere will be enhanced by live performances from local classical guitarist Aaron Copenhaguen, adding what organizers describe as “a vibrant and immersive element to the experience.”

Pasadena’s selection as host city reflects deep historical connections. “Pasadena, with its deep roots in the arts and craftsmanship, has long been a beacon of creativity. Its rich history in the arts makes it the perfect setting for Artazan, with an aim to help continue this tradition,” notes the press release.

The event invites the public to “hunt for unique treasures, join in the creativity, or simply soak in the atmosphere with live music, chocolate sampling, wine, and so much more,” describing the market as “an inspiring experience perfect for spring.”

The Artazan Market will welcome visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 4. Admission is $8 for tickets purchased online or $10 at the door, with either option providing full access to both days of the event.
