Author Jennifer Pastiloff will discuss her new book “Proof of Life: Let Go, Let Love, and Stop Looking for Permission to Live Your Life” at Vroman’s Bookstore on Wednesday, July 9.
The event will feature Pastiloff in conversation with Henry Czerny. It begins at 7 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m.
Pastiloff’s book describes how she reclaimed her voice after convincing herself that “My life is fine and fine’s enough.” She writes about overcoming her belief that change equaled death, a fear that began when her father died when she was eight years old.
The book aims to help readers quiet their “Inner Asshole” and participate in “Shame Loss.” It includes creativity prompts and poetry in what the author calls her signature style.
Pastiloff shows readers how to let go of limiting beliefs. These include “I don’t deserve this,” “I don’t get to be happy,” “no one will love me” and “I’m too old.”
The book includes takeaways, creativity exercises and poems. Publishers describe it as funny, inspiring and full of love.
Pastiloff argues that stress and shame are not birthrights. She writes that people don’t need to prove they are worthy or deserving.
The event will be held at Vroman’s Bookstore at 695 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena. To RSVP and for more information, visit https://vromansbookstore.com/
