The South Pasadena Tournament of Roses will hold its annual yard sale Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the War Memorial Building, continuing a fundraising tradition that directly supports the city’s award-winning float operation.
Just eight months after South Pasadena’s float “Seas the Day” captured the Fantasy Award for outstanding fantasy and imagination, volunteers are preparing for future entries, including the 2026 float design “The Great Picnic Heist.”
“What we really have in South Pasadena is an award winning team,” said Ed Donnelly, chair of the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Committee. “Without the dedication and passion of our volunteers, we couldn’t do this, win awards, and build these great floats.”
The financial stakes are significant. “Our biggest expense, of course, are the thousands of flowers and natural materials,” Donnelly explained. “Our second biggest expense is the enormous tent we rent for the five months to build the float.”
Shoppers will find clothing, housewares, tools, furniture and more.
The organization welcomes donations, though mattresses, entertainment centers and large appliances are not accepted.
Items can be dropped off at the War Memorial Building front door.

“The tradition here in South Pasadena is it’s one of the oldest continuous floats in the Rose Parade, participating since 1911 (with origins dating as early as 1893), and I’m dedicated to keeping that tradition alive for another 100 years,” Donnelly said.
“South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Yard Sale” will run on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13, at 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. War Memorial Building, 435 Fair Oaks Ave., South Pasadena.
