The last time we checked, which was just a few minutes ago, Summer is the right time for barbeque. And certainly Pasadena has more than its share of BBQ venues. Add to that a Friday night, some cold beers, some live ‘70s rock and some au courant social distancing and you have the makings of one superb weekend.
As part of its summer dining schedule, the University Club of Pasadena is serving up weekend barbecue with local barbecue impresario Robin Salzer.
Along with Robin’s ‘que expertise, the Mainstreet Groovers will be supplying the tunage with a playlist of rock from the 70s and 80s. On Saturday, it will be The Skinny Ties with hits from the ‘80s (Think “Walking on Sunshine.” We always do.)
The weekend barbeque menu includes a handful of combos where you can mix and match with Carolina Pulled Pork, Santa Maria Tri-Tip, St. Louis Baby Back Ribs, and Smoked Sausage. You can combine them with Mac and Cheese, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Grilled Fresh Corn, and Mixed Veggies.
Is fish is more your thing, there’s Fish and Chips and some Grilled Salmon. There’s also a Shrimp Pasta, or a Ribeye Steak, if your inner (or outer) carnivore is calling.
Slake your summer barbeque thirst with Jones Cold Brew, now added to the club’s BBQ Americano beverages.
And just so we’re all clear over here, here’s how barbeque happens at University Club. They’re offering modified outdoor dining, curbside pickup, and delivery services in accordance with State, County, and City guidelines.
Guests should call (626) 793-5157 to make a reservation before coming to the Club for any purpose. They cannot accept any walk-ins during this time.
Put on a mask before arriving at the Club. If you do not have a mask, one can be provided, as masks are required at all times except when dining.
Stay in your car when you arrive. If parking and coming inside, you will be directed for self-parking and have your temperature taken at the door. If you are picking up Food To Go curbside, call (626) 793-5157 and someone will be out.
Practice social distancing at the Club by following cues marked on the floor. Stay six feet apart from others except when dining, and please do not gather in waiting areas such as the lobby. Pasadena requires tables of no more than 6 people from the same household.
Eat up.
