On Saturday, April 8, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Caltech and Polytechnic School will host the 38th annual Southern California Science Olympiad State Tournament, a team science competition for middle and high school students.
The tournament will draw over 2,000 students, teachers, parents, and volunteers from across Southern California to campus. Student teams will compete in 23 science-related events including engineering challenges, chemistry labs, and tests in various STEM fields. This year marks the eighth year Caltech has hosted the Science Olympiad, bringing together local students passionate about science and the Caltech community.
Members of the Caltech and local community are invited to watch the tournament in person on Saturday. Caltech’s campus, Polytechnic School, and the surrounding areas will experience increased activity and foot traffic throughout the day. All streets and parking garages will remain open for normal use.
