Descanso Gardens will welcome visitors to two beloved seasonal events this year, offering unique experiences for families and holiday enthusiasts.

The gardens will host “Carved,” a Halloween-themed light adventure, and “Enchanted Forest of Light,” a winter holiday illumination experience, each providing distinctive ways to celebrate the season.

“These events have become a seasonal highlight for so many, and we’re excited to welcome our community back to celebrate the holidays with us,” said Juliann Rooke, chief executive officer of Descanso Gardens.

“This year, both Carved and Enchanted will offer new surprises while preserving the charm and beauty our guests have come to love.”

The Carved event, running from October 3 to 30, will feature an illuminated trail with jack-o’-lanterns, massive hand-carved gourds, and light displays.

Visitors will encounter five wood spirits carved by Chainsaw Jenna, new ghostly characters, and the returning Rhizome light sculpture by Tom and Lien Dekyvere.

Timed entry will occur every 30 minutes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with tickets available starting August 25 for the general public.

Enchanted Forest of Light will transform the gardens from November 16 to January 4, featuring interactive light installations including stained-glass cottages, HYBYCOZO sculptures, and a luminescent Ancient Forest.

A special addition this year includes two exclusive nights on December 10 and 11, featuring live music by Yachty by Nature, a six-piece yacht rock band, with performances at 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.

Ticket prices vary for members and non-members, with children under two entering free.

A Preview Party on November 15 offers an early access fundraising event at $250 per person, with proceeds supporting the gardens’ ongoing programs.

The Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens will be open during both events, with reservations available through OpenTable.

Visitors can purchase tickets in advance through the gardens’ website at www.descansogardens.org.
