Join Samantha Cruz, Education and Public Programs Coordinator at Norton Simon Museum, for an in-depth exploration of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo’s Allegory of Virtue and Nobility on Thursday, April 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. This free event, sponsored by Norton Simon Museum, offers a unique opportunity to delve into the beauty and meaning of this stunning oil on canvas painting.

The painting depicts the triumph of Virtue and Nobility over Ignorance, personified by three female figures.The painting was created by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, an Italian painter who lived between 1696-1770. The painting was created around 1747-48 and is an oil on canvas painting

Cruz will lead participants in a closer examination of this monumental masterpiece. During the event, Cruz will provide a detailed discussion of the painting’s historical context, allegorical significance, and artistic style, offering an immersive experience that will enrich the participants’ understanding of the artwork.
