Row Boat Productions presents an immersive retelling of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar at The Heritage Square Museum, inviting audiences to experience the intrigue of the Roman Senate. Featuring an all-female cast - except for one male actor - this production weaves together music, dance, and Shakespeare's timeless words to explore the enduring question: Is democracy worth saving? The story follows Rome's victorious senators returning from war, only to find Brutus, Cassius, and Caska growing suspicious of their ally, Julius Caesar. As trust erodes, the city fractures into two factions - those devoted to Caesar and those who prioritize Rome itself. When betrayal turns to violence, the Senate is thrown into yet another war, this time within its own walls. Through rhythmic beats, dynamic choreography, and political machinations, this performance delves into the core of humanity, making history feel strikingly relevant to the present day. Themes of power, morality, and gender roles bring a fresh perspective to this classic tale. Directed by Madeleine Woolner and produced by Emma Toureau, this marks Row Boat Productions' debut, with choreography by Camille Imperial and support from the Light Bringer Project, Parson's Nose Theatre, Stephanie Feury Studio Theatre, The Pico, and the Youth Academy of Dramatic Arts. The production incorporates interactive and immersive elements, ensuring an engaging experience where audiences may even get their hands metaphorically (or literally) dirty. The evening begins with cocktails at 7:00 PM, followed by the performance at 8:00 PM. Tickets are available at the provided link.
