Residents shouldn’t fret if they fail to visit the Mariposa Junction Night Market, which happened at Lake Avenue and Mariposa St. last May 7 as it will again welcome the public this June 4.

The night market, which was opened last April 2, returns every first Saturday of the month from 5:00- 9:00 p.m. It runs only until July 2.

“The night market started in April, after several requests for the Altadena Farmers Market to relocate to a more prominent location on the weekends, which just isn’t feasible for many reasons,” said Stacey Whitney of Altadena Farmers’ Market. “It is a partnership between The Altadena Farmers Market, and property owner, Joey Galloway.”

Sponsored by the Altadena Chamber of Commerce, the Mariposa Junction Night Market is “a place where friends and family can meet up with good food and good music,” said Whitney.

Aside from local food vendors and live music, the Mariposa Junction Night Market also hosts several craft beer vendors from the weekly farmers’ market, local restaurants, breweries, cideries and distilleries.

The night market also features arts and crafts from local vendors and information booths set up by Altadena Chamber of Commerce, Altadena Library and Altadena Town Council.

Whitney advised visitors to dress comfortably and expect a crowd. Masks are advised but not required at the venue.

Whitney said organizers cannot say yet if the night market will be open to the public throughout the year. “We’ll see how it goes,” she said.
