Picture families sprawled on blankets under August skies, kids playing nearby while parents unpack picnic baskets, and two powerhouse female vocalists belting out everything from Patsy Cline to Carrie Underwood.

That’s the scene awaiting La Cañada Flintridge this Sunday when The Pistol Blonde brings their high-energy country tribute show to Memorial Park.

The all-star, double-female-fronted tribute band performs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 24, continuing a Music in the Park tradition that has brought the community together for more than 30 years.

“The Pistol Blonde – A Tribute to The Women of Country takes the audience on a non-stop thrill ride from the early days of Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton all the way to our modern Country divas like Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood,” according to the band’s official website.

“The City of La Cañada Flintridge invites you to join family, friends and neighbors for free evenings of music at Memorial Park (1301 Foothill Blvd.). Bring a picnic basket, blankets and chairs to enjoy live music and summer weather!” city promotional materials state.

This year’s series features 15 bands spanning classic rock, reggae, soul and country.

Memorial Park offers expansive green spaces, playground equipment, picnic areas and restrooms, though parking becomes limited quickly and walking or carpooling is recommended.

Event organizers remind attendees that umbrellas must be lowered during performances, and canopies are only permitted at the rear of the park.

“Music in the Park” will run on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial Park, 1301 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada Flintridge. For more information, call (818) 790-8880 or visit https://lcf.ca.gov/music-in-the-park/. Tickets: Free.
