With October 2021 deemed First Tee – Greater Pasadena month by Pasadena City Council and a proclamation was signed by Mayor Victor Gordo on behalf of the city’s councilmembers, what better time than now to hold the annual Invitational Golf Tournament presented by Rose Bowl Operating Company at Brookside Golf Club on Tuesday, October 26.
This year’s invitational is sponsored by Mickey and Lee Segal and Holdsworth Co, LLC. This event marks First Tee – Greater Pasadena’s 15th anniversary of positive youth development to Pasadena area youth and the many surrounding communities of this region.
First Tee believes every youth deserves the chance to build inner strength before the world demands it, to find the joy that comes with feeling confident in their own skin, and to access experiences and spaces where personal growth happens. Experiences are our greatest teacher. First Tee believes in developing experiences that are just as fun as they are meaningful. First Tee – Greater Pasadena has spent 15 years building experiences that build character to empower kids through a lifetime of new challenges and personal growth.
This year’s event will be held at the picturesque Brookside Golf Club adjacent to the world-famous Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. The 9 am shotgun will begin after a clinic hosted by long-drive extraordinaire Pat Dempsey. Tournament participants will be greeted and treated to delectable tastes from Melissa’s World Variety Produce, Inc., the amazing smells of the In-n-Out mobile truck for lunch, delicious Bundtinis presented by Nothing Bundt Cakes followed by a reception hosted by Levy Restaurants after play concludes. The year’s event will also feature an online auction that will be available to bid on as early as October 7th.
Each year, First Tee – Greater Pasadena counts on the support of friends of the program through generous giving. Proceeds from the invitational golf tournament ensure that we:
● Deliver the life-changing impact of First Tee to kids from all walks of life in our community.
● Expand our reach like never before, particularly seeking out opportunities to provide programs for historically underserved and underrepresented kids and families.
● Support the next generation of mentors and leaders, and ensure they reflect the youth in our community.
And what better time to grow our program then after the announcement of the new $25 Million Charles Schwab Challenge Grant. The grant ensures that every $2 raised by the chapter will provide $1 toward First Tee – Greater Pasadena. With this grant, First Tee – Greater Pasadena can significantly grow and evolve over the next several years. With the commitment and leadership of program donors, the work to continue to change the lives of young people and communities is more possible than ever.
The following support opportunities are still available to purchase for this year’s Invitational. There are limited golf foursomes for $1,600 and hole sign sponsorships for $200. In addition, the Sponsor a Youth sponsorship of $200 provides two (2) community youth to participate in our Life-Skills education golf classes. Sponsoring a Wounded Warrior Project foursome has gained popularity. First Tee – Greater Pasadena donors John Sinner State Farm, Bill Stewart of SCNS Foods and Gretchen Sterling of Pasadena Farmer’s Market are hosting a golf foursome for groups of Wounded Warrior Project members to play in this year’s invitational.
