Savor Local Treasures Saturday During the Ford Place and Blinn House Walking Tour

Published on Aug 30, 2022

Pasadena Heritage is holding a Ford Place and Blinn House Walking Tour on Saturday, Sept. 3, and on the first Saturday of every other month, from 10 to 11:15 a.m.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Ford Place is a residential subdivision created in 1902, a small district of 10 houses that includes a fascinating mix of Craftsman, Shingle, Prairie, Tudor Revival, and Mission Revival styles.

Currently Ford Place is part of the Fuller Seminary campus. There is a lot of new development surrounding this area, and several historic properties are being closely watched by Pasadena Heritage, including the Scottish Rite Temple, the former First Congregational Church of Pasadena, and the Fuller campus.

The Blinn House, located at 160 N. Oakland Ave. in Pasadena, was designed in 1905 by renowned Chicago architect George Washington Maher who also designed the Blinn’s home in Chicago. It is a two and a half story Prairie Style house about 8,000 square feet, with finely detailed woodwork and paneling, beautiful fireplaces, and hardwood floors.

The Blinn House is Pasadena Heritage’s new home. The interior tour will be in limited group sizes.

Tours last approximately one hour and cover less than one mile.
