With the ongoing pandemic creating a continued need for blood donations, the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena is hoping to help by hosting a blood drive on Sunday.
The drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club’s Mackenzie-Scott Branch at 2020 N. Fair Oaks Ave., organizers said. All CDC guidelines will be followed.
“At our July Blood Drive, we collected about 35 pints which, I’m told, helped over 100 people in the hospital,” BGCP CEO Lisa Cavelier said in a written statement. “It’s so simple to donate – in and out in 30 minutes, and people will also be given test results for COVID antibodies. We see this as another chance to be part of the solution, and hope to fill all of our spots for Sunday.”
All donors will receive a $5 Amazon discount coupon via email, organizers said. Donors between 16 and 24 will also receive a $10 discount card for selected restaurants.
Participants are urged to register in advance by visiting redcrossblood.org, clicking the “Donate/Find a Drive” tab and entering club sponsor code “bgcpasadena.”
“Though it’s important to register, some walk-ins may be allowed depending on availability,” according to the club statement.
