Great Deals Abound As Young & Healthy’s Inaugural Clothing Collective Sale Preps for Saturday

Event aims to support programs for underserved children and families in Pasadena area
Published on Aug 15, 2024

In a move that combines thrift shopping with charitable giving, Young & Healthy in Pasadena will  launch its first-ever Clothing Collective Sale this Saturday. The event, coinciding with National Thrifting Day on Aug. 17, will offer a wide array of new and gently used clothing options to benefit the organization’s programs for underserved children and families.

Scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 136 W. Peoria St., the sale promises an extensive selection of men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel, shoes, and accessories. Prices will range from $1 for tank tops to $12 for formal dresses and jackets, with accessories priced at $3 and shoes at $5.

The sale will feature various sections, including career, designer, and formal wear, as well as a large selection of denim. Many items still have their original tags. A special curated section will have higher pricing, but organizers emphasize that everything is priced to move.

Young & Healthy said they’re partnering with Annette Vartanian, a local thrifting influencer, to curate a section of vintage and designer pieces. This specially curated area will feature brands such as Valentino, Stella McCartney, Diane Von Furstenberg, St. John, and Tory Burch, among others.

“Increasingly, people are turning to thrift and vintage stores for their clothing purchases,” Ellen Kramer, Executive Director of Young & Healthy, said. “Whatever the reason, supporting our Clothing Collective one-day event promises to be easy on the pocketbook, good for the planet, and helps Young & Healthy achieve our mission to help the children of greater Pasadena grow up healthy and flourish!”

The sale aims to attract thrifting enthusiasts, sustainable fashion advocates, and families seeking affordable back-to-school clothing options. Young & Healthy expects the event to provide budget-friendly shopping while furthering its goal of helping children in the greater Pasadena area grow up healthy.

Volunteers have been helping to sort the clothes, and the organization has prepared example outfits to showcase the variety of items available. Those interested in donating items for the sale or seeking more information can contact Shelley Boyle at sboyle@yhpasadena.org or by calling (626) 795-5166.
