Step into the magical world of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” as The Huntington Library in San Marino to hosts a special event featuring key players in the making of the beloved film. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear from and talk to the creators of the classic animated movie as they discuss the creative process behind its production.
The event, titled “The Making of Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’,” will feature some of the leading creatives involved in the making of the film, including Don Hahn, the producer of “Beauty and the Beast”; Glen Keane, the animation director of Glen Keane Productions; and Brian McEntee, the art director of the Disney classic.
Exhibition curator Wolf Burchard from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will moderate the illuminating conversations as the creators reveal the process behind creating one of the most beloved animated films of all time
In celebration of the exhibition “Inspiring Walt Disney: The Animation of French Decorative Arts,” the event will delve into the diverse sources of inspiration that informed the design, aesthetic, and screenplay of the movie.
For educators of all disciplines and grade levels, the event also offers a workshop where teachers can learn about art that inspired the creation of iconic films like “Beauty and the Beast.”
The event promises to offer insights into the making of the film and how its lasting legacy and impact on popular culture continue to inspire new generations of viewers.
Beyond the event itself the exhibition runs through May 30, 2023. The lectures are scheduled for March 5, March 12, and March 19 at 2 p.m. in Rothenberg Hall.
