A two-part limited edition of The Masters Series, which embraces lifelong learning, will be presented by the Pasadena Senior Center for members and nonmembers 50 and older Tuesdays, Dec. 14 and 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. onsite at the center and simultaneously via Zoom.
Art historian Katherine E. Zoraster, whose specialty is art of the western world from the Renaissance to the 20th century, will lead the sessions, titled “Highlights of the Louvre.” During the multimedia programs, Zoraster will show and discuss some of the museum’s most remarkable works and share little known backstories about them.
The world’s largest museum, the 783,000-square-foot Louvre houses one of the most impressive art collections in history. The 38,000 artworks and other objects, as well as the magnificent 17th century baroque-style former palace with its modern glass pyramid in the courtyard, sits along the right bank of the Seine River in Paris and is one of the city’s most popular attractions.
Zoraster is a professor of art history at Los Angeles area colleges including California State University Northridge, Moorpark College and Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Arts.
The cost for the two sessions is only $25 for members of the Pasadena Senior Center and $35 for nonmembers.
