The Coffee Gallery Backstage brings back Deja Vu in a special evening show on Friday, October 22, as they perform the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young starting at 8 p.m.
When Crosby, Stills and Nash initially came together in 1968 and wrote the material for their first album, they would travel around to their friends’ houses in Laurel Canyon and perform the songs from start to finish, using only acoustic guitars and their voices.
This show at The Coffee Gallery Backstage will be very much like that, except that Deja Vu will be performing a greatest hits set that spans the iconic supergroup’s 53-year career.
Deja Vu distills the material down to the most basic elements, allowing the beauty of the three- and four-part harmonies to shine through, and showcasing the intricate guitar parts and alternate tunings present in the songs.
You’ll hear all of your favorites: “Helplessly Hoping,” “Teach Your Children,” “Guinnevere,” “Down By the River,” “Love the One You’re With,” “Just a Song Before I Go,” “Ohio,” and many more. They will perform all of the songs that you would expect them to play as well as some pleasant surprises for all of the deeper cut fans.
Tickets are $20. To purchase tickets, visit www.coffeegallery.com.
