The 46-year-old Japanese pianist relocated from Fukui, Japan, to Los Angeles in 2010 to advance her jazz career.
She will perform as part of the venue’s Jazz @ the Playhouse series in the intimate 100-seat theater.
Her performance will feature classics like “All Blues” and “Take the A Train,” but with Mabuchi’s signature twist: unique 5/4/4/4 phrasing that sets her interpretations apart.
This innovative approach to timing and rhythm has become her hallmark since arriving in Los Angeles.
Mabuchi’s classical background emerges prominently in her jazz work.
She often incorporates classical themes into her improvisations, demonstrating musical versatility that spans genres.
This fusion approach was recently showcased at her Oct. 21, 2024 performance at the Jazz at LACMA music series.
The playhouse offers wheelchair accessibility, on-site restrooms, and an adjacent public parking lot.
Street parking is also available with a two-hour time limit at no charge.
