Just a mile or so away from the ArtNight hub at Pasadena’s  City Hall, Kidspace Children’s Museum will join one of Pasadena’s most popular yearly cultural events as part of ArtNight, a free evening of art, music, and dance set for this Friday, March 10.

“Art, creativity, and making are the heart of Kidspace,” said Kidspace CEO Lisa Clements. “At ArtNight we come together as a community to create and share together, to enjoy art, and to inspire one another.”

Mexican-Lebanese artist Georgina Reskala—whose works with fun, colored yarns, inspired by her Mexico City and LA arts communities—will be the featured artist at the popular interactive museum. Guests may join Georgina in creations of yarn wrapping art, which is popular in indigenous communities all over the world.

ArtNight also marks the opening night of the newest Kidspace exhibit, Los Trompos, an interactive art installation designed by Esrawe + Cadena,  as a large-scale interpretation of vintage toy tops. The Los Trompos installation was commissioned by the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and ArtNight visitors to KidsSpace can actually step inside these wildly colored structures for a spin of their own.

Guests may also sing along with the all-female mariachi group Las Colibrí and their unique interpretation of traditional sones, huapangos, and rancheras. Perhaps a twirl in the KidSpace light-up hula-hoop dance party is more to one’s liking.

Perhaps all the exhibits are.

Finally, ArtNight visitors can spread their wings at Kidspace’s most popular time and attraction of the year, Butterfly Season. Spring is on its way, after all.

ArtNight is Friday, March 10, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Kidspace Children’s Museum is at 480 N. Arroyo Blvd. in Pasadena. More information and free tickets to  ArtNight are available at  kidspacemuseum.org.
