The Santa Catalina Branch Library in Pasadena is offering families with young children an alternative way to celebrate New Year’s Eve without staying up until midnight.
The branch, one of Pasadena’s oldest dating back to 1913 and home to the system’s distinguished Armenian language collection, will host a “Happy Noon Year” celebration.
The Dec. 31 event, starting at 11:30 a.m., will feature craft-making and festive activities before counting down to noon, allowing younger participants to experience holiday excitement.
The present branch building, which opened in 1931, houses approximately 49,000 items and provides services in both English and Armenian to serve its diverse community.
Beyond its extensive children’s collection of folktales and curriculum materials, the library maintains special collections in literacy, careers, young adult literature, and paperback classics.
The branch, located at 999 E. Washington Blvd., also offers regular programming including a monthly book group for adults and weekly storytimes for children.
Adult patrons particularly benefit from the branch’s robust collection of mysteries, self-help books, and popular fiction, reflecting the community’s diverse reading interests.
