Sunday is the last day to get on over to the Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair with over 200 local, hand-selected artisans showing trendsetting indie goods, including original fashion and jewelry design, paper goods, innovative home decor and housewares, art, photography, food and live music at Pasadena’s Central Park.

The unique shopping experience returned to being in-person in Pasadena in July last year, following a number of virtual happenings that hopped online when the pandemic was at its peak.

This weekend, the Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair features artisans and their work in all categories: accessories, art, body care, family needs, fashion, home goods and jewelry. To browse through the artisans going to the fair and what they offer, just visit the event website, www.jackalopeartfair.com/visitpasadena, and click on the category you want.

Local area musicians, such as Jackson Crow, Paul Falcon and Ricky England will perform live at the Fair; England will also be performing a kids music session Saturday and Sunday.

Food offerings on site feature delicious choices from vegan mac and cheese, handmade pudding, pork stickers, Brazilian street food, and many more.

On Sunday morning, from 10 to 11 a.m., One Life Yoga sponsors a free uplifting yoga class, starting with a light sequence to warm up and build strength, then transitioning into a deep stretch to prepare the body for anything the day brings you. During the event, you can also receive 10 percent off any of their Yoga purses, made in Las Vegas.

This Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair is organized in partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD). The first 100 PUSD faculty members who enter showing a PUSD ID will receive $5 gift cards, the organizers said. Gift cards can be obtained at the information booth during the Fair and can be used to shop at any booth at the show.

The founders of Jackalope Arts, Denver-born Melissa Kohout and Pasadena native Sara Diederich, met as they were working with an international arts organization creating regular art centered events in Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Diederich and Kohout shared the passion of creating a community-meets-artisan event, focused on the experience of meeting the maker and bringing the local community together. With that vision, Kohout and Diederich joined together and started hosting the Jackalope: Indie Artisan Fair as a semi-annual event in their home cities, Pasadena and Denver.

Jackalope Indie Artisan Fairs have been hosted since 2015, with Burbank being added in 2016. In 2021, Minneapolis was added to the roster.

The festival is free to attend. This location is outside, is open to all ages and is handicap accessible. Leashed pets are welcome.

The organizers will be closely monitoring all COVID-19 guidelines and protocols in order to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing. Social distancing and masks are recommended, though not required for this outdoor event. Hand sanitizer is available at the information booth.
