A well-regarded music industry expert says that when selecting a piano, the instrument itself is obviously your top concern — but the piano seller is almost as important.

In choosing a piano, Glenn Treibitz, CEO at Hollywood Piano, who is also a pianist and a composer, said one of the key things a piano buyer should consider is the company they are buying from.

“You really have to know the company you’re dealing with and look at their warranties, their guarantees, how they stand behind their products, and that should be a big part of it,” he said.

For those who want to purchase used pianos, Treibitz assured that their Certified Pre-Owned Pianos all have warranties and everything they sell comes with a 30-day exchange in case they are not happy with any aspect of the piano they purchase.

Hollywood Piano has been selling quality pianos and providing numerous piano-related services to residents of Pasadena and clients throughout Southern California for over nine decades. Next year is their 95th!

It has three locations: Burbank, Santa Ana, and its Factory Outlet and Clearance Center located at 2084 E. Foothill Blvd. in Pasadena.

Established in 1928, Hollywood Piano has been recognized eight times for excellence by the National Association of Music Merchants, an organization that has 10,000 members worldwide, as one of the top 100 retailers in the world.

Aside from selling brand new and used pianos, it also offers piano rentals. It is the piano provider for the Pasadena Symphony & Pops, among other groups.

Currently, Hollywood Piano Factory Outlet and Clearance Center offers piano buyers and those wanting piano rentals in Pasadena a wide selection of pianos and keyboards.

“We have almost every brand in stock and we have between our locations and our warehouses, over a thousand pianos available. So we have pianos to purchase, we have pianos to rent,” Glenn Treibitz, CEO at Hollywood Piano said. “ A big part of our business is renting to the entertainment industry to movies, televisions, et cetera.”

The anytime the two showrooms in Burbank and Santa Ana feature some of the top manufacturers in the world including, Steingraeber, Grotrian-Steinweg, Mason & Hamlin, Petrof, Estonia, Baldwin, Roland and many others including pre-owned Yamaha, Kawai and Steinway.

The Hollywood Piano Factory Outlet and Clearance Center in Pasadena at 2084 East Foothill Blvd., is a warehouse location filled with piano bargains including new & used, scratch and dents, rental returns, discontinued models and store returns.

For Treibitz, there is never a good or bad time to learn piano.

For those who want to learn the instrument on their own, Treibitz advised them to try the One Smart Piano System, which helps teach learners to play piano without a teacher.

The One Smart Piano System is a digital piano that allows learners to play the piano by incorporating interactive technology. It uses a connection to a phone, tablet, or computer to sync with a free App.

If you go the traditional route, “Find a good teacher who you really like and, feel some connection with.”

Lastly, he also advised learners not to give up easily.

“Stick with it when it gets hard. The reward is worth it.,” he said.
