The Mt. Lowe Chamber Players will present a free, interactive family concert featuring a reed quintet at the Altadena Main Library on Sunday, May 4 at 3:00 p.m. The one-hour performance is designed for children ages 3 and up, offering an engaging introduction to wind instruments with reeds.

The announcement from the chamber music organization describes the performance: “Hear music that creates images, stories, and moods: music of Debussy, Schumann, Satie, Gershwin, Doest and Mozart.”

The concert will showcase five professional musicians from Altadena and adjacent communities: Francisco Castillo on oboe, Helen Goode on clarinet, Patrick Olmos on alto saxophone, Carlos Herrera on bass clarinet, and Phoebe Ray on bassoon.

These accomplished performers regularly play with prestigious ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Chamber Orchestra, LA Opera, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Riverside Philharmonic, Burbank Symphony, Long Beach Municipal Band and others.

The event continues the organization’s commitment to providing accessible classical music experiences. Admission and parking for the concert are completely free. All Mt. Lowe Chamber concerts are free to attend.

The Altadena Library, a grant from the Pasadena Community Foundation, and donations from generous supporters fund the Mt. Lowe Chamber Players’ season. The organization operates as a project of the Fulcrum Arts “Emerge Fiscal Sponsorship Program.”

The Altadena Main Library is located at 600 East Mariposa Drive in Altadena, California. For further information, visit www.mtlowechamberplayers.com or contact Phoebe Ray, Manager, at (818) 203-5937 or phoebearay@gmail.com.
