Kidspace Children’s Museum has added a new outdoor exhibit that aims to educate children about the farm-to-table movement in a playful way. The Muddy Boot Farm invites kids to grab a trowel and a wheelbarrow and become a part of the farm process, from planting to harvesting, and even selling the produce at the farm stand. The exhibit is designed for children of various ages and play styles, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Lisa Clements, the CEO of Kidspace, explained that Muddy Boot Farm is a rich story world that is magical and welcoming, with a sweetness and surprise, and humor. The farm stand, restaurant, and chicken coop all provide plenty of opportunities for imaginative role-play.
Daily programming at the exhibit delves deeper into plant growth cycles. Children can explore the path that food takes from the seed to the store, watching how seedlings sprout and grow. They can also dig into the world of decomposers, learning how organic food scraps turn into rich nutrients to help fruits and vegetables grow.
The Muddy Boot Farm exhibit at Kidspace is an excellent way to introduce children to the farm-to-table movement. Through interactive play and education, children can learn about the importance of sustainable agriculture, healthy eating, and the natural world. The exhibit is a fun and engaging way to encourage children to become more aware of their food and where it comes from.
The Muddy Boot Farm exhibit is an all-day event on Sunday, February 19, 2023, and is free with admission. The exhibit is sponsored by Kidspace Children’s Museum (KCM). For more information, you can call 626-449-9144 or visit their website at https://kidspacemuseum.org/
