Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena will present a filmed version of “Van Gogh: Poets & Lovers,” documenting a once-in-a-century exhibition from London’s National Gallery.

The documentary, directed by David Bickerstaff, prominently features the artist’s “Portrait of a Peasant (Patience Escalier),” which is in Norton Simon Museum’s own collection, among its examined pieces.

The film explores Van Gogh’s transformative period in southern France, where he developed a revolutionary artistic style focused on storytelling through vibrant, symbolic imagery in his paintings.

Visitors can attend the Jan. 17 screening in the museum’s theater from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before the presentation begins.

The event, at the museum’s 411 W. Colorado Blvd. location in Pasadena, is free with museum admission and requires no advance reservations for attendance.
