In a city known for its rich history and for setting the scenes for some of Hollywood’s iconic moments on film, Pasadena is gearing up for a birthday celebration that promises to be both nostalgic and engaging.
As the city marks its 138th birthday, the Pasadena Museum of History is pulling out all the stops to commemorate not only Pasadena’s milestone but also the Museum’s own centennial.
The museum’s upcoming exhibit, “Light, Camera, Action! Hollywood Magic in Pasadena,” has provided inspiration for the free community birthday event on Sunday, June 9th, from 12 to 4 p.m.
Visitors are invited to step back in time and embrace the spirit of Hollywood by arriving in costume as their favorite movie stars and characters.
While costumes are optional, they will add an extra layer of fun to the festivities, which include a range of Hollywood-themed music and activities suitable for all ages. From arts and crafts to live music by Gypsy Jambo and screenings of classic silent movies complete with complimentary popcorn, there’s something for everyone at this unique celebration.
The event offers a treasure hunt with 10 hidden “Oscars” scattered around the museum campus, a movie-themed gift basket giveaway, and the opportunity to cool off with the Pump and Splash activity. Attendees can also participate in their own celebrity photo op with a DeLorean and movie backdrop, creating lasting memories of this special day.
At 2 p.m., Mayor Victor M. Gordo will lead the official cake cutting, followed by complimentary birthday cake for everyone from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Free movie ticket drawings for visitors in costume will take place at 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., adding an extra element of excitement to the celebration.
The Pasadena Museum of History, located at 470 W. Walnut Street, is opening its doors to the community for this free event, which is open to all ages. The museum’s centennial celebration coincides with Pasadena’s 138th birthday, highlighting the city’s rich history and its connections to the Hollywood film industry.
