Pasadena Playhouse Brings Star-Studded ‘Anything Goes’ Concert Staging With Jinkx Monsoon and Wayne Brady

Theater charts new direction with Cole Porter classic featuring 16-piece orchestra and Broadway luminaries in three performances at Pasadena Civic Auditorium

Cole Porter’s classic musical “Anything Goes” will take the stage at  the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in January, part of a series presented by Pasadena Playhouse featuring two iconic musicals over two extraordinary weekends.

The limited engagement, “Anything Goes in Concert,” running Friday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., presents the beloved musical under Annie Tippe’s direction.

The production showcases Jinkx Monsoon as nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Wayne Brady as Billy Crocker, with J. Harrison Ghee taking on the role of Lord Evelyn Oakleigh.

The full cast includes BenDeLaCreme as Mrs. Harcourt, Harvey Guillén as Moonface Martin, Alec Mapa as Eli Whitney, and Mike Millan as Purser, accompanied by a 16-piece orchestra.

The musical follows stowaway Billy Crocker’s pursuit of heiress Hope Harcourt aboard a New York to London ocean liner, aided by singer Reno Sweeney and “Moonface” Martin.

The production features Porter’s memorable songs including “Anything Goes,” “Blow, Gabriel, Blow,” and “You’re The Top,” with music direction by Darryl Archibald and choreography by Ayodele Casel.

The show represents extensive collaboration, with music and lyrics by Porter, original book by P.G. Wodehouse and Guy Bolton, revisions by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, and a new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.

The production, presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC, offers membership packages for the Playhouse’s 2024/2025 season, providing various seating options for patrons.
