Located at 85 E. Holly Street, the center boasts a full range of new equipment including more than a dozen strength training and cardio machines, free weights, group fitness classes and personal trainers.
The Fitness Center’s all-inclusive membership features various value-added fitness and wellness programs designed to help older Americans move forward with competency and confidence, said a Pasadena Senior Center statement.
Among the specialized offerings is the Health Enrichment Program, which promotes well-being through practices designed to improve daily function across physical, cognitive, emotional and social health dimensions.
Participants can receive individualized coaching plans developed by health and fitness professionals, covering strength training, occupational therapy, stress management, nutrition, balance, memory and dexterity instruction.
For those who have completed physical therapy but wish to continue building strength and mobility, the center offers an After-Physical Therapy program for a smooth transition to curated physical training. This four-month program begins with a comprehensive evaluation by a licensed physical therapist who creates a tailored program to address specific fitness needs, costing $35 per session with a minimum of four sessions.
Membership in the Fitness Center is not required for the After-Physical Therapy program.
The center also provides free eight-week Balance Workshops specifically designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase balance and activity levels among older adults through exercises, lectures and discussions.
Membership at the Fitness Center costs $120 annually, in addition to the $45 membership fee for the Pasadena Senior Center itself.
For 65 years, the Pasadena Senior Center has worked to improve the lives of older adults through social interaction, fitness programs, basic support services, education, volunteerism and community activism.
With 10,000 Americans becoming older adults each day, the center has positioned itself as a leader in addressing aging issues, providing innovative, nationally recognized programs for this population group.
As a donor-supported nonprofit, the center operates without local, state or federal funding and provides more services to older adults than any other organization in the San Gabriel Valley.
The Pasadena Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
