More than 20 bands marching in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day will stage thrilling pre-parade shows on Wednesday and Thursday, December 29 and 30, at the Pasadena City College’s Robinson Stadium at 1570 E. Colorado Blvd.
Over the course of two days, Bandfest 2021 will feature each of these bands as they showcase their talented musicians, dancers and auxiliary performers in award-winning field shows that led to their selection. Some Pasadena-based bands – including the Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band which has been taking part in this sneak peek of the Rose Parade for almost a hundred years – will be at Bandfest.
The list shows seven of the bands performing in the first show beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Six bands are performing Thursday at the 10 a.m. show, and six more are on the 2 p.m. show. The Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band and Herald Trumpets are performing on all three shows, according to the schedule.

Bandfest, which has been part of the Tournament of Roses since 1930, is sponsored by Remo, a musical instruments manufacturing company in Valencia.
Last year’s Bandfest, and the Rose Parade in January as well, were cancelled due to COVID-19, so many of the bands that are performing on BandFest this week are those that made it to the 2020 list.
Like in most outdoor or indoor events in Pasadena, guests must not come to BandFest if they are experiencing fever or any COVID-19 symptoms, have tested positive for COVID-19 and are under isolation orders or have had close contact with anyone who is confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19.
Masks are required for this outdoor event regardless of vaccination status.
Tickets to Bandfest are $20 and free for children age 5 and under. For tickets, see https://sharpseating.com/
