The Old Pasadena Artisans Market, Giant Steps Community Programs and Belmont Ave Candle Co. are co-sponsoring a Sip, Shop and Paint event at the Giant Steps building at 2401 Lake Ave. in Altadena on Saturday, Dec. 17, 1 to 6 p.m.
“The event is actually going to be a small business market as well,” Alyssa Richard, Director of Giant Steps Community Programs, said. “We’ll have about 20 vendors selling their handcrafted merchandise. We’ll have food. There will also be photos with Mrs. Claus, and music.”
The event features local businesses producing handmade products and artifacts, raffle prizes, food, beer and wine, a DJ and photo opportunities.
The Sip and Paint portion begins at 2 p.m. and includes complimentary wine and champagne.
“It’s really in support of handmade businesses and people with disabilities,” Richard said.
Giant Steps, based in Altadena, is a non-profit organization that assists adults with disabilities with employment opportunities. The organization provides employment training and job coaching opportunities for adults with special needs such as autism, Downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and intellectual disabilities.
Giant Steps also administers vocational training programs to provide participants an opportunity to learn employable skills that would qualify them to enter the open job market.
Entry to the event on Saturday is free, but some tickets are sold online for the Sip and Paint portion.
