This year’s Mt. Wilson Trail Race, the second oldest trail race in California, is on!
The race, organizers said, begins at 7 a.m. Saturday.
First held in 1908, when runners raced to Mt. Wilson, rested a half-hour, then raced back down, the Mt. Wilson Trail Race was abandoned in the early 1950s. It was revived in the autumn of 1965 and has grown over the years to its present format.
The race is organized by a volunteer committee and sponsored by the city of Sierra Madre. It is currently 8.6 miles in length, the exact course changed by erosion, fires and earthquakes.
Participation in the Mt. Wilson Trail Race or the Mt. Wilson training program is open to individuals age 14 and above as of the day of the race.
To register, visit https://apm.activecommunities.
The cost to register is $39 for youth ages 14 to 17, and $70 for adults 18 and older.
All paid entries receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag.
Youth runners need to be accompanied by a parent.
