Pasadena-based pretzel chain Wetzel’s Pretzels has announced a partnership with DreamWorks Animation to promote the upcoming “Dog Man” movie through specialized menu offerings and branded packaging.

The collaboration features the company’s existing Dog Bites and warm, soft Pizza Bitz served in custom cups decorated with characters from Dav Pilkey’s bestselling children’s book series.

The partnership introduces a new Ranch Dip accompaniment and a Supa Blue Raspberry Frozen Lemonade, featuring blue raspberry flavored granita layered with frozen lemonade, available now through March 2.

“We are honored DreamWorks Animation has chosen Wetzel’s Pretzels as an official partner for the release of Dog Man,” said Sarah Curtis, Wetzel’s Pretzels Vice President of Marketing, in a company statement.

The crave-worthy Dog Bites consist of miniature all-beef hot dogs wrapped in pretzel dough, while Pizza Bitz feature pepperoni and a three-cheese blend topping.

The movie, scheduled for theatrical release on Jan. 31, adapts Pilkey’s popular book series, which has sold more than 60 million copies worldwide and been translated into 47 languages.

The film features an ensemble cast including Pete Davidson as Petey the Cat, Lil Rel Howery as the Chief, Isla Fisher, Poppy Liu, Stephen Root, Billy Boyd, and Ricky Gervais.

Pilkey’s latest installment, “Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea,” ranked as 2023’s top-selling children’s book in the United States. “Dog Man: Big Jim Begins” was scheduled for release last December.

Wetzel’s Pretzels, founded in Pasadena in 1994, has expanded to over 400 locations and recently earned recognition on Yelp’s 2024 Fastest Growing Brands list and Franchise Business Review’s awards.
