Roma Market, at 918 N Lake Ave., is often known as the “Pasadena landmark with one sandwich.” The sandwich sits on the deli counter wrapped in pink wax paper, in a stack that can go from 60 to zero over the course of a brief lunchtime rush. It’s just $5.50, and it’s among one of the most favored sandwiches in Los Angeles. The 81-year-old owner, Rosario Mazzeo, assembles the sandwich in the sandwich as he has been doing so since 1959.
