The Villa Esperanza Services’ Blue & White Fundraising Gala, themed “Wild About Villa,” unfolded as a vibrant celebration of philanthropy and support on the evening of Saturday, April 27, at the Langham Huntington Hotel. The event, starting at 6:00 p.m., marked a significant occasion in Villa’s calendar, gathering community members for an evening dedicated to uplifting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Guests were dressed in their safari best all to support Villa and its programs.
This year’s gala honored Richard Mooney of Kensington Caterers, a key supporter of Villa Esperanza Services for nearly two decades. Mooney’s substantial contributions and advocacy have been crucial in advancing Villa’s mission. His support extended beyond financial donations, encompassing a pivotal role in capital campaigns and live auction successes that significantly bolstered the organization’s fundraising efforts. Furthermore, Mooney has seamlessly woven Villa’s mission into his business outreach, expanding the reach and impact of Villa’s services.
The event showcased a delightful mix of dinner and entertainment, providing guests with various ways to contribute to Villa’s cause. The proceeds from the evening are earmarked for Villa’s extensive program offerings that aim to foster independence and enhance the quality of life for those they serve. These programs include educational initiatives at The Villa School, therapeutic services at the Hjelte-Phillips Speech and Language Center, and life skills development through adult day programs and residential services.
One of the evening’s highlights was the live auction, where guests engaged in spirited bidding on a range of exquisite items and experiences. This segment not only raised significant funds but also highlighted the community’s commitment to supporting Villa’s mission.
The gala was more than a fundraiser; it was a celebration of the achievements of the Villa community and a demonstration of the power of collective effort in making a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
