Three men and two women were arrested Monday after they were spotted allegedly stealing from a U.S. Postal Service mailbox at Fair Oaks Avenue and Bank Street in South Pasadena.
South Pasadena Police said a detective on his way to work saw them at about 5:48 a.m., the Pasadena Star-News reported Monday.
The detective, Mike Palmieri, called the station and followed the suspects’ car until other officers arrived. The car was stopped near the York Blvd. off ramp to the 110 Freeway, the Star-News report said.
Officers recovered from the suspects a small amount of methamphetamine, 10 checks and stolen mail with addresses in South Pasadena, Los Angeles and Pasadena.
The suspects, all Los Angeles residents, were arrested on suspicion of mail theft and possession of meth, says the report.
The suspects’ names and ages were not immediately available.
