Daytime Emmy Pre-Nominations Announced Ahead of May Event in Pasadena

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) on Thursday announced the Drama Performer Pre-Nominations for the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards which will be given out on May 5 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

“We are very proud to officially launch the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards with this list of extremely talented actors and actresses” Brent Stanton, Executive Director of the NATAS Daytime Emmy Awards Administration, said. “We are also very excited that this year the pre-nomination round includes the very talented performers from the Digital Drama Series.”

David Michaels, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer of the Daytime Emmy Awards, said they’re looking forward to a bigger and better 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards following the success of last year’s show in Pasadena.

“Today’s list of talent bodes well for a spirited competition and a star-studded show,” Michaels said.

The full list of pre-nominations for the awards can be viewed online through www.emmyonline.tv/46th-daytime-drama-pre-nominations .

The process used to determine the pre-nominated performers begins with an online judging ballot, which contained all entrants in nine performer categories, being sent to all registered, eligible peer judges.

The ballot contained a randomized order of performers in each category, regardless of their show affiliation. Judges were required to view clips online containing the work of each performer entry, before selecting their top 10 performer choices in each category.

Due to ties in the voting, the list released Thursday contained 11 Supporting Actresses in a Digital Drama.

Ballots were submitted directly to Lutz and Carr, Inc., an independent accounting firm for tabulation.

Candidates who received the highest number of votes now advance to the blue ribbon screening round, scheduled to begin on February 21, which will determine both nominees and recipients.

Thursday’s list also contained the names of the entrants for the Younger Actor and Actress categories in a Drama Series, as well as Guest Performer in a Drama Series, who will proceed directly to the Blue Ribbon Round.

Nominations will be announced on Wednesday, March 20, NATAS said.

Tickets for the 2019 Daytime Emmy Awards Show are now being sold online. The show is produced jointly by the New York-based NATAS and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles.
