Pasadena police officers arrested a 39-year-old homeless man after he allegedly attempted to break into a home in the 1100 block of N. Garfield Avenue in Pasadena Friday morning.

Pasadena Police Lt. Mark Goodman said the victim was in her kitchen when she heard someone was tampering with the lock on her front door.

Police said the suspect, identified as Juan Hernandez Trinidad, was arrested after he fled from the area when the homeowner, a 72-year-old woman, called police at about 9:55 a.m. to report the attempted burglary.

“The victim yelled at the suspect, at which time he fled north from the location,” Goodman said. “Officers responded and were assisted by the police helicopter. The flight crew located the suspect and directed officers to the location.”

Goodman said the suspect was arrested without incident and charged with attempted residential burglary.
