Most people do. And that is not surprising. It is natural that we would want to know the One who created us, and who is the author of life. Without Him, none of us would know life at all. We would not exist. In Him, we live and have our existence. The big hurdle to overcome in knowing God is the fundamental differences between what He is like, and what we are like.
God is invisible and spiritual. He is not physical. Yet His existence is easily seen in creation….for those who are searching. If you want to find God, you must believe that He is there, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. That is called “faith.”
God is also Love. Totally selfless, giving, never failing Love. We, on the other hand, are always thinking of ourselves, always wanting our own way, grudging givers at best, and riddled with failure. How are we who are so different from God to relate to Him? The truth is, left to our own resources, we can’t.
God Himself bridged the gap. He took the form of a man, named Jesus. In Jesus, God became visible and physical, like you and me. But unlike you and me, he was completely selfless, self sacrificing…even to death in our place on the cross. But death could not hold him. Jesus is the only man in history to ever conquer death. He lives. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life of God.
If you are ready, and want to know God, you can. Talk to God. Tell Him, “I want to know you. I know I am selfish, not like you at all. But I believe that you love me. And I believe that Jesus is Lord and that you raised him from the dead. Please, Lord, teach me to know you.”
Congratulations! You have a new life ahead of you, a life filled with the peace and love of God! Want to know more? (Click to read John 3:16, Romans 8:8-10, Revelation 3:20, 2Corinthians 5:16-17, or the entire Book of John).
