Fr. Joe, Fr. Dennis and the staff at St. Philip the Apostle Church would like to express their thanks to all of the generous parishioners who have already signed up to participate in the 2012 Together in Mission program. Three weeks ago, the church was privileged to hear from four individuals from San Miguel School in Watts: Maryann Reynosa, the Principal; Brenda Torres, the Vice Principal; Tom Beck, the School Board Chair and Doris Dave, the first grade teacher.
All four individuals spoke about their experience with the Together in Mission program and how it has provided a Catholic presence to many families in the Watts area who otherwise would not have had this opportunity. Due to the faithful contributions in 2011, St. Philip the Apostle Church has been able, for the first time in a long while, to exceed its 2011 pledge goal of $106,999.00. The church expects to receive a check from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in the amount of $7,674.53. This money is being used to provide support to St. Philip the Apostle School families, San Miguel School, Detention Ministries as well as to provide additional assistance to the needy.
The church pledge goal in 2012 is $105,296.90. If any parishioners did not make a pledge, and would now like to do so, envelopes are available in the vestibule areas and from the Parish Center office. Please do not hesitate to drop them off in the collection basket and remember that this is a restricted collection. All money raised will be used for no other purpose.
