Dangerous wind gusts forced a Los Angeles County helicopter to abort efforts to hoist an injured man to safety this morning.

Pasadena Fire Dept. spokesperson Lisa Derderian said the 9:45 a.m. response located a 40-year-old man with a fracture in mountains above Eaton Canyon.

Pasadena’s Urban Search and Rescue team located and stabilized the transport of the man, only for County chopper to be buffeted and back away.

The USAR team carried the man out to awaiting transportation to a local hospital.

Winds today are sweeping through the foothills.

In separate news, Altadena’s Mountain View Cemetery closed its doors today, saying in a statement that “The winds whipping across Los Angeles are too strong and make it too dangerous for our walk-in neighbors to be visiting.”
